August Team Spotlight: Paralegal, Vicki Morrison

Here at The Law Offices of James Fletcher Thompson, we have a passion for building families through adoption and assisted reproduction. This passion comes from the rewarding work we do, and from the incredible team that makes all of our efforts a reality. Each month, we will give you an insider’s look into what makes life at our firm truly special.

August’s featured team member is Paralegal, Vicki Morrison.

1) What is your official title?

Paralegal

2) How long have you worked at JFT?

Since May of 2001

3) Describe a typical day on the job.

Usually very busy.  Which is good.  We laugh and say “we wear many different hats in our office.”  If you are real lucky, you might just get to hold one of our precious babies that is going to his or her forever family.

4) Why are you passionate about adoption and assisted reproduction?

I never realized there was anyone that suffered with infertility until I came to work here.  I am so blessed to have two biological children.  It is such a joy to be a part of when a parent meets their son or daughter.  I must say it is really a privilege.

5) What has been your most joyous or monumental memory with the company so far?

I attended a final adoption hearing with Mr. Thompson in December of 2014 that involved two older foster children.  After the judge granted the adoption, he asked one of the children why he wanted to be adopted by this family.   He replied “I want to be out of the foster system.”  I do not believe I will ever forget that response.  Those of us who have a wonderful family and home sometimes take these things for granted.   I left that day feeling that something really good had happened!

6) Describe yourself in three words.

Loyal, helpful and compassionate.

7) What is your favorite aspect of your job?

Getting to talk with so many wonderful folks.
